Marienkirche

Marienkirche is a three-nave hall church built from red bricks with a distinctive western tower in the city center. The interior displays unplastered brick walls and is covered by a flat wooden ceiling.

The church was first built in 1263 as a Romanesque structure and then replaced by a Gothic building beginning in 1506 under Prince Ernst of Anhalt-Dessau. Reconstruction after 1945 destruction established its present appearance.

The church now functions as a cultural venue hosting concerts and theater performances throughout the year. Visitors encounter an active space where the arts play a central role in community life.
