Multimar Wattforum

Multimar Wattforum is an aquarium center with 36 tanks displaying hundreds of marine animals such as sharks, lobsters, starfish, and sea urchins from the Wadden Sea. The facility also exhibits larger whale skeletons that washed ashore to document the diversity of sea life in this region.

The center opened in 1999 to help visitors understand the Wadden Sea and its animals. It was created as an educational facility for Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park and has served as a gateway to this unique coastal habitat ever since.

The center explains how North Sea creatures depend on each other and shows why this habitat matters to the region. Visitors gain a sense of the delicate balance of life in the shallow waters and mudflats nearby.

The center welcomes visitors throughout the year, with opening hours varying by season and extending longer during warmer months. It is wise to check exact times before visiting and allow enough time to explore the full range of exhibits at your own pace.

A remarkable highlight is the 18-meter-long skeleton of a sperm whale that once washed ashore on the mudflats. Alongside this massive specimen, a complete minke whale skeleton is also on display, showing the dramatic size differences between various sea mammals.
