Märchensee

Märchensee is a protected lake set within dense forest at about 475 meters in elevation and surrounded by benches where visitors can observe nature. The body of water has a rounded shape bordered by green banks, with walking paths threading through the surrounding woodland.

The lake formed in a former quarry and was later designated as a protected natural monument to preserve its ecological value in the Swabian Alps. This transformation from an excavation site to a protected natural area shows how the location evolved into an important local space.
