Prinzessinnengarten, Urban garden at Moritzplatz, Berlin, Germany.
Prinzessinnengarten is an urban garden in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg with vegetable beds, beehives, and a café serving food grown on-site. The space is filled with raised beds and planting containers that can be moved around as needed.
The project started in 2009 when an empty plot was turned into a green space by volunteers and organizers. This marked the beginning of a major shift toward urban gardening across Berlin.
The garden brings neighbors together around shared interests in food and growing things, creating a sense of community that extends beyond just gardening. People here develop connections and friendships through working side by side on the same patches of land.
The garden operates from April through October, and visitors can buy locally grown produce or join in gardening activities. Wear comfortable shoes and be prepared for uneven ground and simple pathways.
The beds and planting containers here are not built permanently but can be moved around as situations change. This flexibility is intentional and allows the project to adapt if circumstances ever require it.
