Reptilium Terrarien- und Wüstenzoo Landau, Reptile zoo in Landau in der Pfalz, Germany
Reptilium is a reptile zoo housed in a 3,400 square meter space containing over 1,200 animals from 125 different species. The collection includes reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates in specially designed habitats that recreate their natural environments.
The facility opened in 2004 and converted a former IT company building into its home. Its creation stemmed from director Uwe Wünstel's personal reptile collection, transforming a private passion into a public space.
The place teaches visitors about reptiles through daily demonstrations and feeding sessions that help overcome common fears. These presentations reveal how diverse and interesting these creatures are in their natural behavior.
The facility is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00 throughout the year, with indoor spaces maintained at temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. Visitors can explore the exhibits comfortably in warm conditions without worrying about weather or extreme temperatures.
After the 15:30 snake presentation, visitors can take photographs with snakes and have direct contact with these animals. This hands-on moment offers a chance to overcome fear and gain a closer understanding of these creatures.
