Schloss Schönau, Medieval water castle in Richterich district, Aachen, Germany.
The stone castle features brick construction with blue stone frames around windows and doors, complemented by a central gabled entrance projection.
The area was transferred by Emperor Frederick II to Heinrich von Aachen in 1244, leading to the establishment of the von Schönau family.
The Trauzimmer wedding room on the upper floor serves as a marriage venue for local ceremonies throughout the year.
Wedding ceremonies take place on the third Wednesday and first Friday of each month between 09:30 AM and 11:30 AM.
The current structure, built in 1732 by architect Laurenz Mefferdatis, sits on foundations of a three-winged medieval fortress surrounded by water.
