Römische Wasserleitung, Roman aqueduct ruins in Brey, Germany
The Roman aqueduct tunnel stretches over 500 meters through the rocky terrain, featuring inspection shafts with diameters between 1.5 and 2 meters.
During World War II, local residents seeking shelter from bomb raids accidentally discovered the ancient aqueduct, leading to initial archaeological investigations in 1963.
Since 2002, this engineering structure has been recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Upper Middle Rhine Valley.
Visitors can reach the aqueduct by following the Mill Path toward the sports field, with parking available nearby and a 300-meter forest trail.
The aqueduct maintains water flow after two millennia, delivering an estimated two liters per second through its ancient channels.
