Ringwall Bleibeskopf

The Ringwall Bleibeskopf is an Iron Age fortified settlement on a hilltop near Bad Homburg, enclosed by circular earthwork walls. The site incorporates natural terrain variations as integral elements of its defensive design.

The settlement was founded around 800 BCE during the Urnfield culture period and served as an important Iron Age center. After several centuries of occupation, it was eventually abandoned, leaving behind evidence of a well-organized community.

The settlement was home to Iron Age communities who built their dwellings and conducted daily life within these walls. The remains reveal how they adapted their living space to the natural landscape around them.

The site is accessible on foot with clearly marked pathways leading to the entrance area. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear since the terrain is uneven with significant elevation changes throughout.

Archaeological excavations from the early 1900s uncovered bronze tools and jewelry that reveal the craftsmanship skills of the inhabitants. These discoveries provide a rare window into how an Iron Age community actually lived and worked.
