Salzderhelden saltworks, Industrial heritage site in Salzderhelden district, Germany.

The Salzderhelden saltworks is an industrial complex with several preserved buildings from the 19th century salt production era. The drilling tower, engine house, and wooden graduation structure are the main elements that make up this site.

Salt extraction at this location started in 1757 following the discovery of a brine spring, and a graduation tower was built in 1772. The operation closed in 1963 after nearly two centuries of production.

The saltworks show how salt was extracted from underground sources and processed here for centuries, shaping the region's economy and way of life.

The site can only be visited by prior arrangement through guided tours that must be scheduled in advance. Wear comfortable shoes and allow enough time to walk through the different buildings and structures.

The drilling tower reaches approximately 450 meters underground and was an engineering achievement of its time for extracting brine from deep layers. This depth was remarkable for salt production in the 19th century.
