Altendorfer Berg, Mountain summit in Einbeck, Germany
Altendorfer Berg is a mountain summit in Einbeck, Lower Saxony, rising to approximately 271 meters above sea level. It marks the southern end of the Hube range and connects to several marked walking trails across the area.
The area served as a Bundeswehr military training site covering more than 120 hectares until the 1980s. When the military withdrew, the land was redesignated as a protected nature reserve.
The Kaiser-Friedrich-Turm crowns the summit, built in 1900 to honor German Emperor Friedrich III. This tower stands as a visible reminder of the region's past and shapes how the mountain looks from far away.
Marked walking trails lead to the summit, with parking areas available at Negenborner Weg for easy access. Public buses serve the nearby Paul-Hindemith-Strasse station, offering connections to the mountain and surrounding areas.
The nature reserve hosts rare orchid species and maintains one of the largest semi-dry grasslands in the region through sheep grazing. This traditional management approach keeps the landscape open and allows uncommon plants to thrive.
