Scheffelschlösschen, Historic building in Radolfzell am Bodensee, Germany.
The Scheffelschlösschen stands as a two-story Neo-Renaissance building featuring a distinctive corner tower, constructed with Italian architectural influences on the Mettnau peninsula overlooking Lake Constance.
Originally built as a vineyard house around 1857-1858, the structure was extensively renovated between 1878-1879 by Berlin architect Karl von Großheim for poet Joseph Viktor von Scheffel.
The building served as the summer residence of renowned German poet Joseph Viktor von Scheffel from 1876, who was ennobled for his literary contributions and received honorary citizenship from Radolfzell.
Since 1966, the ground floor houses the local spa administration offices, while the building previously functioned as a Scheffel Museum from 1928 to 1966 and briefly as an ornithological observation station.
Between 1928 and 1938, the building served as the observation station for the South German Bird Observatory under Kurt Floericke, combining literary heritage with scientific research functions.
