Sender Züssow, Radio transmission tower in Karlsburg, Germany
Sender Züssow is a 190-meter tall transmission tower located near Karlsburg in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, positioned east of where roads B111 and B109 intersect. Deutsche Funkturm operates the facility while Media Broadcast handles the transmission of radio and television signals throughout the region.
This tower replaced an earlier transmission structure from the East German era, which featured a lattice steel design supported by guy wires for broadcasting. The transition to the modern tower construction improved transmission capacity and signal reliability across the region.
Since 2016, the tower broadcasts digital radio programs through the DAB+ standard, reaching listeners across Vorpommern-Greifswald with content from national and regional stations.
The tower is easily accessible from nearby federal roads B111 and B109 and visible from the surrounding countryside. Keep in mind this is an active transmission facility with no public access to the grounds.
Together with the transmitter at Garz on Rugen island, this facility ranks among the tallest structures in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The two stations work in combination to deliver broad radio coverage across extensive distances.
