Schloss Ranzin, Neoclassical castle in Züssow, Germany

Schloss Ranzin is a neoclassical manor house with a symmetrical facade of plastered brickwork and large windows overlooking a maintained park. A prominent entrance portal marks the front of the building, which spans multiple stories and contains hotel rooms and event spaces.

The castle was built in the 19th century on the foundations of an older estate and later extensively renewed by merchant August Wilhelm Homeyer after a major fire. This renovation shaped the building's appearance as it exists today.

The castle functions as a hotel today, and its rooms still display neoclassical details that reflect the era of Northern German country estates. Visitors can experience this architectural style directly by walking through the halls or spending time on the terraces.

The building is located near Greifswald and operates as a hotel with room accommodations and as a venue for celebrations and meetings. Visitors should note that the castle is primarily a working establishment, and public access may be limited to specific areas.

A former owner, Friedrich von Homeyer, bred a sheep variety on this estate that later spread throughout Europe and remains well known today. This agricultural achievement was particularly significant for the economic importance of the property during the 19th century.
