Sender Drachenberg is a radio transmission tower in Lower Saxony standing 181 meters tall. The structure sits on a hilltop at 313 meters above sea level and distributes radio and digital signals across the region.
The station began transmitting in 1952 to serve the British Forces Broadcasting Service for military personnel traveling to West Berlin. It later evolved into an important hub for radio broadcasting across Lower Saxony.
The transmission facility represents the evolution of German media infrastructure, supporting both analog and digital radio broadcasting across the Lower Saxony region.
The tower is visible from the surrounding hills and can be observed from various points in the landscape. Visiting the area allows travelers to view the structure from different perspectives.
Two additional steel lattice masts beside the main structure help distribute signals optimally in all directions. This configuration enables more reliable coverage over greater distances.
