Grünten transmitter

Grünten transmitter is a television tower located on Grünten mountain at about 1691 meters elevation in the Oberallgäu region of Bavaria. The facility broadcasts radio and television signals that cover a wide area of the region and surrounding Alpine valleys.

The transmitter was established to broadcast radio and television signals throughout the Oberallgäu region and beyond. It became part of the essential infrastructure that enables media coverage in this mountainous part of southern Bavaria.

The transmitter shares its location with a memorial dedicated to German mountain troops, combining technological advancement with historical remembrance.

The location is reachable by public transport from nearby valley towns, and the tower is clearly visible from below when hiking in the area. The facility itself is not open to the public as it remains an active broadcast station maintained by technical staff.

The elevation and exposed location allow the transmitter to reach signals across an enormous area spanning multiple valleys far below. From certain hiking trails, the structure is distinctly visible and serves as a notable landmark when moving through the mountain landscape.
