Straßenbahnmuseum Halle, Transportation museum in Halle, Germany
The Straßenbahnmuseum Halle is housed in a nine-track depot building from 1898 and displays around 40 historical tram vehicles, buses, trucks, and cars. The collection offers an overview of public transportation vehicle development.
The museum opened in 1996 in a former tram depot that operated until 1968. The city's tram network electrification began in 1891.
The collection represents vehicles from different transport operators and shows how public transportation systems developed across various German regions. You can observe how vehicles and their use changed over time in these different areas.
The museum is open only on specific days and requires advance planning for your visit. Access is limited to the first and third Saturday of each month from May through October.
The museum maintains several working vintage vehicles, including an IFA H6B bus from 1956 and various Ikarus models built in Budapest. These vehicles show industrial connections between Germany and Eastern Europe.
