Gasthof Zum Mohr, Historic inn in Giebichenstein, Halle (Saale), Germany.
Gasthof Zum Mohr sits at the corner of Burgstrasse and Faehrstrasse in the Giebichenstein quarter. The building features a mansard roof dating to the 18th century and stands near Burg Giebichenstein castle.
The building was constructed in the 16th century as a customs house and coaching inn for travelers. It was named after Saint Maurice, the patron saint of the Magdeburg Archdiocese.
The establishment served as a gathering place for local organizations and associations until 1907. After that year, most of these groups moved their activities to the newly built Volkspark in the area.
The property includes various structures and outbuildings on the grounds, such as garage facilities. Visitors can approach the site from either Burgstrasse or Faehrstrasse for easy orientation.
Three generations of the Richter/Mohr family operated this property for over 90 years. This long ownership created a continuity that made the place a landmark of stable local presence across multiple decades.
