Taubenklippe

Taubenklippe is a granite rock formation that rises 568 meters (1,863 feet) above sea level, towering above the Ecker Valley in the Harz Mountains. The cliff face provides multiple vantage points overlooking the surrounding mountain landscape.

The site contains remains of the former Ernstburg hunting lodge from the 19th century, now serving as an information point for hikers. This historic structure connects the area's past use as a hunting retreat to its present role as a popular walking destination.

This location serves as stamp station number 4 in the Harz Hiking Network, where walkers collect marks to earn a regional hiking badge. The station connects people to a larger community of hikers exploring the mountain range.

The main hiking route to the summit starts from the Ilsetal parking area and takes about 4 hours to complete over approximately 14 kilometers. Good hiking boots and sufficient water are important for the varied terrain you will encounter on the ascent.

A protective shelter sits directly beneath the cliff, offering hikers a rest spot and weather protection during their visit. From this sheltered location, visitors can spot the distant Brocken mountain on clear days.
