Hülsede Water Castle

Hülsede Water Castle is a Renaissance fortification situated between the Süntel and Deister ridges. The structure displays characteristic Weser Renaissance features with defensive water channels surrounding the main building.

Construction began in 1529 under Claus von Rottorp's direction and continued with expansions until around 1600. The site then passed through family ownership for generations before undergoing major changes in the early 1900s.

The structure exemplifies a Renaissance water fortress that blended residential use with defensive features. Visitors can observe how the surrounding water channels and fortified design worked together as part of daily life.
