St. Eligius Kirche, Lutheran church in Hattendorf, Germany.
St. Eligius Church is a religious building with a rectangular tower on the western side and follows a Greek cross floor plan. The structure preserves older masonry sections on the north and contains an ornately designed altar featuring a Last Supper scene.
Church construction began in the 12th century, with the first written mention recorded in 1339. The building survived a severe fire during the Thirty Years War and was rebuilt afterward.
The altar created in 1516 shows fine woodcarving that reflects regional craftsmanship of that time. The work was expanded later and shows how religious beliefs changed across different generations.
The building is open for Sunday services and private tours can be arranged by request. The surrounding churchyard has been expanded to include a section for urn burials.
A baptismal font from the 16th century shows detailed carvings depicting scenes from the birth of Jesus. This ornate object is a rare example of artistic skill from that period.
