Alster-Schwimmhalle, Indoor swimming pool in Hohenfelde, Germany.
The Alster-Schwimmhalle features multiple swimming areas, including a 50-meter pool with 10 lanes and a separate multi-purpose training pool for various activities.
Built in 1973 at a cost of 36 million Deutsche Marks, architects Walter Neuhäusser and Rolf Störmer designed this facility with its distinctive concrete shell roof.
The swimming complex serves as both a recreational center and a competition venue, bringing together athletes and local residents throughout the Hamburg region.
The facility contains three Finnish saunas, steam baths, workout studios, massage services, and a restaurant, operating as a comprehensive health and fitness center.
The building's double hyperbolic-paraboloid concrete roof structure spans 102 meters by 52 meters, creating a butterfly-like appearance above the swimming halls.
