Al-Quds Mosque Hamburg, Sunni mosque in St. Georg, Hamburg, Germany
Al-Quds Mosque Hamburg was a three-story building located near Hamburg's central train station, featuring separate prayer rooms for men and women on multiple levels. The facility could accommodate approximately 400 worshippers and was organized to support regular religious gatherings.
The mosque opened in 1993 as a place of worship for the local Arab Muslim community in Hamburg. German authorities permanently closed it in 2010 due to security-related concerns about the facility's operations.
The mosque served as a gathering place for Arab Muslim worshippers in Hamburg, providing a distinct religious space separate from the Persian and Turkish prayer communities elsewhere in the city. Visitors could experience traditional Islamic practices tailored to an Arabic-speaking congregation.
The building is located in the St. Georg district and was easily accessible by public transportation from the nearby main train station. Visitors should note that the site is no longer open to the public and exists only as a historical reference point in the city's past.
On Fridays, approximately 250 worshippers gathered at the mosque, demonstrating its importance as a religious center for the Arab community. This substantial attendance highlighted the strong need for a dedicated prayer space in the neighborhood.
