Synagoge Braunschweig, Jewish synagogue in Braunschweig, Germany
The modern structure features seven columns supporting a ceiling illuminated by a Star of David pattern and accommodates 200 worshippers.
Following the destruction of the 1873 synagogue during the November 1938 pogrom, the new building opened on December 6, 2006.
The building maintains Jewish architectural traditions with its axis oriented toward the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
The synagogue stands at Steinstrasse 4, incorporating existing walls from adjacent buildings and a World War II bunker.
Local resident Jürgen Justus Becker launched the '1938 Building Blocks' campaign to finance construction, referencing the year of destruction.
