Ritter St. Georg, Braunschweig, Timber-framed house in Old Town, Braunschweig, Germany.

Ritter St. Georg is a timber-framed house on Alten Knochenhauerstraße featuring Gothic windows and hand-carved details across its facade. The building displays wooden carvings showing religious figures and has been extended and modified over the centuries.

Construction of the building took place in 1489, though its foundations came from the 13th century. Later in 1700 it received new upper floors and baroque elements, and it survived World War II.

The carved figures on the facade show religious themes and medieval craftsmanship that reflect how important art and faith were in the community. Visitors can see these details directly from the street and understand how such artistic work served as both decoration and spiritual expression for the people living here.

The building now functions as a hotel with guest rooms and modern amenities inside its historic walls. It sits on Alten Knochenhauerstraße surrounded by other old buildings in the heart of the old town area.

Sections of the original city wall from the 13th century are visible inside the building, integrated into its interior spaces. The house also contains old ceiling paintings that are among the oldest residential artworks in Lower Saxony.
