Kampener Vogelkoje auf Sylt, Nature reserve in Kampen, Germany
The Kampener Vogelkoje spans 10 hectares of protected land, featuring a freshwater pond separated from the Wadden Sea by a dyke.
Established in 1767 as a duck-catching facility, the site operated until 1935 when it was transformed into a protected natural area.
The Söl'ring Foriining organization maintains this historical site, preserving both the natural environment and the traditional duck-catching heritage of Sylt.
Visitors can explore 35 information stations along a nature trail that winds through the forest, past thatched-roof houses and ancient water channels.
The site contains one of the four original duck decoy pipes, reconstructed between 1986 and 1988 according to historical specifications.
