Paqué brewery, St. Wendel

The Paqué brewery is an industrial-era building complex in St. Wendel with typical 19th-century architectural features. The site at Gudesberg includes a brew house, storage areas, and steam-powered machinery that were installed to increase production capacity.

Michael Paqué founded the operation in 1836 inside a tavern located on Kelsweilerstraße. In 1884 he relocated the business to Gudesberg, where larger and more modern facilities were built.

The brewery shaped the community's daily life for more than a century, serving as a social and economic anchor for the town. Local residents grew up with its beers as part of their regional identity.

The location sits on elevated ground and can be reached on foot from the town center. Visitors should plan to view the exterior structures, as interior access depends on special arrangements or scheduled tours.

Water for brewing came from the Todbach stream, a mountain creek whose clean flow shaped the beer's character. This ingredient contributed to the distinctive taste of their products until the brewery ceased operations in 1967.
