Neues Schloss Beihingen

Neues Schloss Beihingen is a Renaissance castle in Freiberg am Neckar with a main building connected by walls to a tithe barn and storage house. These structures form a closed architectural complex set within approximately one hectare of gardens.

Friedrich von Breitenbach, son-in-law of Ludwig von Freiberg, commissioned construction in 1573 and added further buildings by 1600. Late 19th century renovations removed the original chimney above the western gallery as part of those modifications.

The building shows how people constructed regional architecture in the 16th century through its structural choices, materials, and traditional methods. These features remain visible and shape how the complex appears to visitors today.

The property is privately owned by the von Graevenitz family and cannot be visited without prior arrangement. You need to request a guided tour in advance, which the family can accommodate throughout the year.

The gardens cover about one hectare, showing the generous scale that wealthy families of the period valued. The way the grounds are arranged gives visitors insight into how Renaissance nobility lived in this region.
