Warnemünde harbour entrance lights

The Warnemünde harbour entrance lights are two towers marking the port entrance, with one showing green light and the other red light. They guide ships safely into the harbour through a specific shipping channel.

The two towers were built in the early 1900s alongside the opening of the New Stream, a new shipping channel. This system allowed larger numbers of vessels to enter the harbour safely.

The entrance lights stand as protected monuments representing centuries of Baltic Sea maritime tradition. They reflect how communities along this coast have organized safe passage for ships coming to trade and shelter.

The towers are visible from nearby walking paths along the harbour front. You can view them from different angles as the area is open and accessible without barriers.

The two towers mark the boundary between two distinct water channels. The older natural river mouth runs alongside the newer artificial passage, making this spot where two water routes meet.
