Strasen lock, Navigation lock in Wesenberg, Germany

Strasen lock is a lock on the Müritz-Havel Waterway in the Strasen district of Wesenberg, southern Mecklenburg Lake District. Its chamber is 42.40 m long and 5.13 m wide, closed by stem gates, and it equalises a mean head of 1.42 m between the Großer Pälitzsee and the lower Ellbogensee.

This lock was built in 1845 and formed a key connection point in the regional waterway system. Its creation was part of early infrastructure development to support inland boat traffic in the region.

The lock lies in the Strasen district of Wesenberg, on the Müritz-Havel-Wasserstraße. Excursion and sports boats use it between mid-March and late November, and watching the stem gates close and the water level change is the main thing to see here.

The lock is operated by the Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt Oder-Havel and can be used by pleasure and sports craft from mid-March to the end of November at set times. The chamber is 42.40 m long and 5.13 m wide, so small boats fit easily; larger craft should check the Finowmaß limits before arriving.

The lock was built in 1845 to the Finow dimension and last renovated in 1956. Its average lift is 1.42 metres, and the chamber is 42.40 metres long and 5.13 metres wide.
