Duburg-Kaserne, Military barracks in Flensburg, Germany
Duburg-Kaserne was a military barracks complex in Flensburg featuring a main building with northern and southern wings, designed according to plans by garrison inspector Bolte. The compound contained multiple structures built to house troops and support their training activities.
The barracks opened in 1877 to house the Fusilier Regiment 'Queen' No. 86, a unit that had fought in the Franco-Prussian War. After World War I, memorials were installed at the site and in St. Mary's Church to commemorate the regiment's fallen soldiers.
In 1920, memorials were installed to honor fallen soldiers of Regiment 86, including a monument in St. Mary's Church.
The site is located in Flensburg and was accessible by public transport. After World War II, the facility was repurposed and eventually demolished, so visitors cannot tour the former barracks today.
In March 1945, the barracks served as a specialized SS reserve hospital with many patients departing before the war's end. This brief period marked a dark chapter in the complex's final years.
