Freudenthaler Sensenhammer, Industrial museum and historic scythe factory in Leverkusen, Germany.

The Freudenthaler Sensenhammer is a former scythe factory in Leverkusen that now operates as a museum displaying traditional blade production. The site preserves original workbenches, machinery, and tools that illustrate each step of the manufacturing process from raw materials to finished products.

The factory began operations in the 19th century as a producer of high-quality scythes and shaped the region's craft-based industrialization. Operated by the Kuhlmann family across generations, it was eventually preserved as a testament to traditional manufacturing practices.

Regular blacksmith demonstrations at original workstations show visitors the manufacturing techniques and working conditions of historical industrial production in Germany.

The museum is located on the outskirts of Leverkusen and is best reached by car or public transport. Visitors should plan adequate time to thoroughly explore the workshop areas and displays throughout the site.

The water-powered system that once drove the factory machinery still operates today, demonstrating how energy was generated for production. This functioning hydropower setup offers a rare glimpse into sustainable machinery operation from the 19th century.
