Aquädukt über die Murg, Aqueduct in Forbach, Germany
The aqueduct spans across the Murg River with a concrete arch bridge structure measuring 40 meters in width and 5 meters in height.
Built in 1885 by engineer Karl von Müller from Freiburg and construction company Thormann and Schneller from Augsburg, this water bridge served the E. Holtzmann paper factory.
The structure represents one of Germany's earliest unreinforced concrete arch bridges, receiving monument protection status in 1979 for its engineering significance.
The aqueduct system includes a water intake structure, tunnels, and turbines that utilize a 17-meter drop for energy generation at the former factory site.
Small arches supported on the bridge feature circular recesses between their spans, creating a distinctive architectural pattern in the concrete construction.
