Kunstweg am Reichenbach, sculpture path near Gernsbach, Germany
Kunstweg am Reichenbach is a walking trail featuring sculptures that stretches over 3 miles through a nature reserve near Gernsbach in the Black Forest. Along the route stand artworks by various artists, including realistic figures and abstract forms made from materials such as metal, stone, and wood.
The project started in 2004 through the initiative of artists Rüdiger Seidt and Jürgen Dieskau, who founded a group to manage the trail. From 2006 onward, the first sculptures were installed, and they have been continuously added to or replaced with new works.
The trail takes its name from the Reichenbach stream that flows through the valley. Visitors can see how art placed outdoors becomes part of everyday life and invites people to stop and observe.
The trail is easy to walk and suitable for visitors of all ages, with rest spots and benches at various points where you can pause. Since the artworks are exposed to weather, visiting during different seasons is worthwhile to see how the pieces change over time.
Some artworks change their appearance through weather effects like rust and weathering, which is part of the artistic concept. This natural transformation makes each sculpture a living work that evolves with time and the seasons.
