Kinderheim Warburg, Children's health center in Norderney, Germany
Kinderheim Warburg is a care facility on Norderney Island near the North Sea dunes. The building was renovated in 2012 and accommodates around 160 people, now operating under the name Haus Klipper.
The facility was founded in 1920 and was initially funded through donations from the Warburg district community. For its first 16 years, it was managed independently by sisters from a missionary order in Hiltrup.
Mission sisters from Hiltrup managed the center independently for the first 16 years, establishing health programs for children in need.
The site sits near the dunes, so reaching it requires travel across the island. It is important to know that this is a specialized care facility.
During World War II, a naval unit temporarily used the building because Norderney held strategic military importance. This period shows how the island was repurposed during wartime.
