Badesee Mörfelden-Walldorf, Recreational bathing lake in Walldorf, Germany

Badesee Mörfelden-Walldorf is a natural swimming lake with a sandy beach and spacious grass areas that spread across several hundred meters along the shore. A paved walking path circles the entire lake and connects all its different zones.

The lake began as a gravel pit; after gravel extraction ended in 1970, the then independent municipality of Walldorf bought it. To make the water usable for bathing despite the nearby motorways, 10,000 green plants were set on the banks. In 2019 the swimming area was reclassified as a "Badestelle", ending water supervision and admission fees.

The lake serves as a gathering place for families and friends from the region who come to swim, play sports, and spend time together. The open grass areas and sandy shore create a relaxed setting where people enjoy their leisure time in various ways.

The site is fenced, and since its redesignation as a public bathing spot in 2019 there has been no lifeguard unless posted, so swimming is at your own risk. Parking is limited to a small lot in the south, and the city of Mörfelden-Walldorf explicitly advises arriving by bicycle; the lake lies directly on the B44 and beside the A5. From Walldorf station, a signposted family route leads along the Riedbahn, served by the S7 every half hour.

The lake has no surface inflow or outflow; it is fed mainly by rain, with a little groundwater seeping in from the Gundbach to the north and the Wurzelbach to the south. A 150-metre peninsula juts into the water from the southwest, holding the anglers' clubhouse and a boat jetty.
