Luxhohl

Luxhohl is a circular pond in the forested area of Egelsbach, measuring about 50 meters across. The basin sits within a larger natural area that stretches between a federal road and forest zones.

The site was a US Army military facility during the Cold War with numerous defensive structures. Following the military withdrawal, the location transformed into a natural landscape.

Today, locals and visitors use this spot as a quiet natural space to experience woodland silence. The area holds meaning for the region as a place where people can find rest and observe nature away from daily noise.

Wear good footwear, as the path goes through wooded areas and can be slippery. The spot is best visited on dry days when the paths are in good condition.

The pond was once heavily silted and nearly lost, but was restored through nature conservation efforts. Today it serves as an important habitat for amphibians that benefit from the water body's recovery.
