Luxhohl, Still waters in Egelsbach, Germany

Luxhohl is a circular pond in the forested area of Egelsbach, measuring about 50 meters across. The basin sits within a larger natural area that stretches between a federal road and forest zones.

The Luxhohl is a natural still-water pond in the Gewann Luxhohl, a wooded corner of the Egelsbach Gemarkung in the Offenbach district of Hesse. The sources record no construction, damming or military use of the pond itself; its documented setting is the forest south of the Egelsbach Transmitter Facility.

The pond lies in the Gewann Luxhohl, the field name that also gives the water its name; the wooded northwestern spur of the Egelsbach Gemarkung around it is long and narrow. Visitors reach it on forest tracks south of the Egelsbach Transmitter Facility, and the round basin of about 0.2 hectares is the only open water in that strip of woodland.

Wear good footwear, as the path goes through wooded areas and can be slippery. The spot is best visited on dry days when the paths are in good condition.
