Dorfkirche Hauswalde, Protestant church in Hauswalde, Großröhrsdorf, Germany.
Dorfkirche Hauswalde is a Protestant church in Saxony featuring a rectangular nave with a square western tower. The building displays tall basket-arched windows and buttresses on the north and south walls that provide structural support.
The original medieval church underwent major expansion in 1720 and was substantially rebuilt. A century later, a sacristy with a prayer room was added in 1771, followed by construction of the western tower between 1780 and 1782.
The place name Hauswalde refers to the woodland that surrounds this church, which remains the center of the settlement today. The community gathers here for religious celebrations and festivals that mark the rhythm of their year.
A visit can be arranged during regular services held for the local parish community. It is advisable to check service times and contact the local parish office if you need access to the church at other times.
The building houses a rare organ built by Wilhelm Flugel in 1842, featuring 14 registers on one manual and pedal system. This instrument is one of only a few surviving creations by this organ builder and contributes to the church's acoustical character.
