St. Marien und Laurentin

St. Marien und Laurentin is a Gothic church in Lauenstein with impressive artworks created locally. The three-story altar, ornate pulpit, and baptismal font show the craftsmanship of artisans from Pirna and the surrounding area.

The original church dates to the 14th century and was substantially rebuilt between 1596 and 1602 following a devastating city fire. This reconstruction shaped the structure visitors see today.

The church displays sandstone works by local artisans that preserve the stories of noble families from the region. These artworks speak to the people who lived here and shaped the community.
