Fleckenmauer Dalsheim

The Fleckenmauer is a medieval defensive wall that winds around the village center of Dalsheim and is topped with seven preserved towers. The structure consists of thick stone blocks and demonstrates the solid construction methods used when it was built.

The wall was built between 1470 and 1490 to protect the market town of Dalsheim. Though its entrance gates were removed in 1840, the wall itself remained and continues to define the village's character.

The wall shapes how the village looks and shows how important safety was to the people who lived here. Walking around it today, you can see where homes once clustered together and how the community organized itself for protection.

You can climb the tower at the northern entrance to walk along the top of the wall and see the surrounding landscape spread out before you. The walkway has stairs and uneven sections, so wear comfortable shoes for the best experience.

The Hexenturm stands out with its semi-circular shape and narrow loopholes, showing a different design approach than the other towers. This distinctive form was typical for defensive towers of that era and gave the wall better protection from attack.
