Bagger 1473, Industrial monument in Schipkau, Germany
The TAKRAF SRs 1500 bucket wheel excavator measures 171.5 meters in length, 50 meters in height, and weighs 3,850 metric tons.
Built in 1964, the excavator operated at Meuro lignite mine until 1999, with a brief period at Welzow-Sud mine between 1986 and 1987.
Three municipalities joined forces to preserve this excavator as a testament to eastern German industrial heritage and mining technology.
The excavator features ten buckets of 1.5 cubic meters each, operating at 57 dumps per minute with a theoretical extraction rate of 5,130 cubic meters hourly.
The Brandenburg State Office for Monument Protection added this blue-painted mining machine to its heritage list in February 2019, preventing its demolition.
