Stadtgarten Stuttgart, Urban park in central Stuttgart, Germany
Stadtgarten Stuttgart is an urban park in the city center with three hectares of landscaped grounds, walking paths, flower beds, and fountains situated next to the university campus. The space connects to Hoppenlau Cemetery via an underground passageway and includes a parking facility constructed between 1972 and 1974.
The park hosted the first Württemberg Garden Exhibition in 1870 and was officially inaugurated in May 1871 under Garden Director Adolf Wagner. This early development established the park as a central green space for the city.
The park contains memorials and artworks that invite visitors to pause and reflect on the city's history. People use this space for both relaxation and remembrance, giving it a special role in the daily life of Stuttgart residents.
The park is easily accessible on foot and provides visitors with plenty of space to walk around and spend time at their own pace. Those arriving by car will find underground parking available for convenience.
The two main pathways crossing through the park are named after Joseph von Egle and Max Kade, connecting different moments of the city's history. This naming honors individuals who shaped Stuttgart's development.
