Hochbunker Körnerstraße

Hochbunker Körnerstraße is a three-story concrete building with extremely thick walls built to shield people from aerial bombardment. Its solid construction and large interior space reveal how shelters were engineered for maximum safety during wartime.

Built in 1943 during intense bombing campaigns against Cologne, this shelter was designed to protect large numbers of residents. After the war ended, it was repurposed and eventually protected as a historical monument.
