Ehrenfeld, City district in western Cologne, Germany.

Ehrenfeld is a city district in western Cologne consisting of seven quarters including Bickendorf and Bocklemünd. The area features converted industrial buildings, apartment blocks, and green spaces arranged across a substantial urban landscape.

The area became an independent municipality in 1867 and gained city status in 1879 before merging with Cologne in 1888. This transformation occurred during industrialization, when factories and worker housing reshaped the landscape.

The neighborhood hosts a thriving community of artists and creators who use converted factory spaces as studios and galleries for their work. This creative presence shapes how people move through the area and how they spend their time here.

The district is well served by Köln-Ehrenfeld station, which connects to multiple tram lines for easy access to the city center. The flat terrain and numerous walking paths make exploring the neighborhood on foot straightforward.

The Helios lighthouse serves as the district's landmark and stands visible from many locations across the area. This red brick building originally belonged to a chocolate factory and remains one of the oldest recognizable symbols of the neighborhood.
