Fangelturm

The Fangelturm stands 25 meters tall with a diameter of 6.5 meters, featuring thick brick walls of 2.3 meters at its base point.

During the 15th century, this circular brick tower was integrated into the city wall of Neubrandenburg as one of two defensive structures facing the Duchy of Pomerania.

The tower received its alternative name, Mönchenturm, due to its location near a Franciscan monastery that influenced the local religious landscape for centuries point.

Since the mid-1990s, visitors can access the tower and examine its interior, including the domed vault with its central opening called the fear hole point.

The tower contains a special feeding hole measuring 70 centimeters in diameter, which served as the only access to provide food, light, and air to prisoners point.
