Treptower Tor

Treptower Tor is a multi-story brick gate with distinctive features from medieval Neubrandenburg. The structure displays typical Hanseatic fortification architecture with thick walls and multiple interior levels.

The gate was built in medieval times as part of a double gate system and served as one of four main entries through the city walls. It arose during a period of intensive development and fortification of this Hanseatic town.

The gate now houses a regional museum with exhibits about early history and archaeological finds from the surrounding area. Visitors experience the region's past directly within these medieval walls.

The interior can only be visited by prior arrangement with the museum staff. It is wise to check opening times ahead and book your visit in advance.

The gate provides access to four exhibition levels, with the uppermost level offering views across the Mecklenburg landscape. From this height, the city walls and surrounding land can be seen in their full extent.
