Winzenburg

The Winzenburg castle remains stand on a plateau 480 meters above sea level, featuring defensive walls extending 500 meters across the mountainous terrain.

The castle grounds contained a ceremonial site, marked by the presence of what locals refer to as the 'hoofprint', indicating its significance beyond military purposes.

The castle area spans 24 hectares and requires sturdy walking shoes to navigate the elevated paths leading to the medieval fortification walls.

The observation tower, built in 1860 within the castle complex, stands separate from the original fortress structure and provides views of the Harz Mountains.
