Schloss Hohenstadt, Medieval château in Abtsgmünd, Germany.
Schloss Hohenstadt is a stone castle positioned on a hill overlooking the Kocher Valley and contains about 65 rooms with traditional Baroque architectural features throughout. The structure displays the typical design characteristics of 18th-century noble residences.
The Adelmann family purchased the estate in 1407 and converted the original fortress into a Baroque residence. Extensive renovations completed around 1760 gave the structure its present-day appearance.
The castle hosts annual art exhibitions during Advent, where over a hundred artisans display their ceramics, woodwork, jewelry, and fashion designs. Visitors can experience contemporary craftwork displayed within the historic rooms.
Access to the castle grounds is available only through guided tours, while the garden can be entered via a turnstile gate. Visitors should plan for varying accessibility depending on which areas they wish to explore.
The estate contains one of Europe's oldest hedge gardens, established in 1549 and featuring roses and a giant sequoia tree. The tree originated from botanical cultivation before being transplanted to this location.
