Fahnenburg

Fahnenburg was a rectangular residential building with a central observation tower and decorative stonework at its four corners. The original structure was later expanded into a larger villa with gallery spaces to display artworks.

Anton Fahne built this forester's residence in 1846 and expanded it into a substantial villa a decade later. The property became an important cultural landmark in the Rath district during the 1800s.

The building served as a gathering place for art collectors and cultural enthusiasts from the city during the 1800s. Visitors came to view significant works that the owner had assembled over time.

The property was historically difficult to reach and located in a rural part of the city. While the building no longer stands, visitors interested in local history can research its story through archival records and local documentation.

Archaeological excavations during the construction of stables in 1849 uncovered ancient urns beneath the property, revealing earlier settlement in the area. These findings suggested that the land held significance in ancient times.
