Ostpark Düsseldorf, Urban park in Grafenberg, Düsseldorf, Germany.
Ostpark is a green space covering eight hectares located between Wittelsbachstraße and Sulzbachstraße in the Grafenberg district. It features a large pond, terraced areas lined with trees, and paths for walking through the grounds.
The park was designed in 1898 by Heinrich Friedrich Adolf Hillebrecht, Düsseldorf's city gardener, as his final major project after three decades of shaping urban green spaces. It reflects the accumulated expertise and vision of his life's work.
The park served as a social hub in the early 1900s, drawing local residents who came to rent boats and visit the café on the grounds. It remains a gathering place where people walk and spend leisure time among the gardens.
The park can be reached by U-Bahn lines U73 and U83 as well as bus line 730, with street parking available along Wittelsbachstraße. Visitors will find the grounds most accessible and pleasant during warmer months.
The park holds an unusually large collection of rhododendrons compared to other green spaces in Düsseldorf. These flowering plants shape the appearance of the grounds noticeably during spring months.
