Hochbunker August-Lütgens-Park, World War II air raid shelter in Altona-Altstadt, Hamburg, Germany.
This multi-story concrete bunker stands approximately 65 feet (20 meters) tall and was originally constructed to protect hospital staff and patients during wartime air raids in the early 1940s.
Built around 1940 as one of six operational bunkers serving the Altona General Hospital, this structure provided refuge for hundreds during World War II bombing campaigns over Hamburg.
The bunker is listed as a heritage monument in Hamburg and serves as a reminder of the city's wartime past and efforts to preserve historically significant military architecture.
The bunker can be reached via nearby public transportation stations including Thadenstraße and Gerichtstraße, both located within 820 feet (250 meters) of the site in August-Lütgens-Park.
Since 2007, the exterior of the bunker has been equipped with approximately 800 climbing holds, transforming the historic structure into a free outdoor climbing facility known as Kletter-August.
